New fandom on The Fandom House site!

As of today, there’s a new fandom on my fan fiction site, The Fandom House! Wallander! So far there’s one story, but there will be three more once I’ve had time to translate them. The stories are based on the Swedish version, but naturally they will all be in English on that version of the site. There’s also one wallpaper based on the UK version and several based on the Swedish version.

My other homepage

If anyone’s interested in finding out more about me, you’re welcome to visit my other homepage. It’s more about animals, veganism, languages and history than the Fandom Blog but naturally also about books and writing.

New Wallpapers on the Fandom House site

My sister just made these really cool wallpapers and I thought I’d share them. They’re on the gallery page of our fan fiction site.

Mysteries and fantasy

I have found that many of my interests and hobbies are relatively rare. That is, not everyone shares my obsession with them. In fact, many of them never even heard of some of my favorites in a given area of interest.

It’s kind of like my favorite types of animals. (Though listing my favorite animals will take time and blog post space. It might be easier to list the ones I’m not too keen on, but I digress.)

So, to get to the point, it occurred to me that my two favorite genres of books are a bit like cats and dogs. Let me explain.

Crime novels, in general, are crime novels, though there are of course historic ones, thrillers, puzzles etc. So that is the same as cats. A cat is a cat, regardless of its breed or appearance. (Though to make this a little more complicated, most people haven’t heard of my favorite mystery writers either, so maybe I shouldn’t take this metaphor too far.)

Anyway – With me so far?

Fantasy is more like dogs. What’s a dog? A big tough, impressive one, like a – Eurasian? Yes. A lively, medium sized one, like a Tibetan Terrier? Yes. A small, adorable one, like a Lhasa apso or a Bolognese? Yes. A – you get the picture. My favorite fantasy books do have other followers, but really not that many. If I meet an average fantasy fan (yeah, I wish), I’m betting he or she might not even have heard of my favorites.

So there you have it. When it comes to crime novels, I like many different kinds. Fantasy, particularly my not so well known authors.

Microcommunity about fandom

My very own little microcommunity about fandom (fan fiction and fan art/photo montages) and anything to do with fandom – tv series, movies, books and more. You’ll find it here.

Some news at last

I have some news at last. Things don’t really happen here, as you might have guessed, but at the moment at least something’s going on. I went back to university. One last attempt at getting a degree. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted this. Who knows if it might jinx my chances, but they were never very good to begin with, so I’m going to risk it. LOL.

So far I’ve only been to the introduction and the first lecture (and I won’t be able to go to that many), but at least so far, so good. It seems interesting and not as difficult as I feared in my worst moments of insomnia… As for the people in my group, well, at least there are about 14 guys, so that’s nice, even if most of them aren’t really my type. Too many of them are too young (for me, and that’s saying a lot LOL) and the rest – well, I don’t know. The majority of the twenty odd students are female and those too are kids. About 19 most of them. Needless to say I was invisible to all my group, possibly including the professor (who wasn’t my type either, way too old, for one).

Yesterday started out quite well, but as you can see from my last post, it began to deteriorate pretty soon. Even so I now officially have three nice things to note in this blog post (for yesterday).

1. I woke up at a decent time in the morning and I was fully rested! (Of course I had to go for 48 hours without sleep to achieve that, but still).
2. 1000 people have read my Cold Case fic Winding Road on FanFiction.net!
3. I watched quite a fun movie yesterday (Dinotopia). I love that universe.

Another thing -  I think I might have ADHD. That might explain a few things. I haven’t had a diagnosis so I could still be wrong, but so far everything I’ve read sounds far too familiar. Not sure how I feel about that. In a way, it will be creepy to have a sort of disability but on the other hand, it will be a relief to know that I’m not just a stupid, worthless failure for no reason.

That’s all for now. Updates later (if there’s anything to update).

Porn for feminists? -again.

I just read another article about ‘feminist’ porn. What all these people are missing is that after all these years, the female is still an object. As far as they’re concerned it’s like the past thirty years or more never happened. For them porn still equals naked women. I don’t mean lesbians. I think it’s perfectly cool that lesbians make lesbian porn for lesbians. What I’m referring to are the so called straight feminists who claim that their movies with naked women are good porn.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. For me, it means naked guys. That kind of gay porn means hot guys having fun together, not ugly old men having sex with and degrading women. The naked (young) male body is attractive. Females are just soft and saggy. How can that be sexy?

Well, to each their own, but I really think that if you want to call yourself a feminist, why not leave the female body alone? Hands off our bodies.
